The bulls from Hvammur in Ölfus are, among other things, raised
with beer and a heap of beer. The beer beef was a project of Davíð Clausen from
University of Agricultural Sciences, where the goal
was to establish a tastier Icelandic
beef.
The bulls drink about 2 liters of beer a day and have for the last 2
years, their average slaughter weight has increased by 40
kilos and they score considerably higher for fat today than before.
The Grillmarkadurinn is the only
restaurant where the beer beef from Hvammur will
be available. There is a limited amount available at any given time.
Ask the waiter about the Ölnaut from Hvammi and which cuts we have available.
